My family moved to America from China when I was 13. I’ve had a student visa since
and the plan was to get the green card before I graduate college. The relationship
between the two countries caused the progress of naturalization to slow down
significantly, especially after the 2016 U.S. election. Now as I’m graduating from
college, the President has paused immigration again. I made photographs as a
reflection of my mind. When my future is depending on one man’s decision, it’s difficult
to find my place in this world. My expectation for the once promised belongingness was
high but it all feels like I’ve been waiting for nothing.
